Shaun Sheahan

I spent more than 20 years living in Mexico, where I met my wife Maria, raised our family, and learned far more about receiving God’s love than I ever expected. We now live in San Diego and cross into Mexico often. I’m part of a small, deeply-loving faith community that inspires me to keep learning how to love my neighbors the way God does.

I also served with Borderlands, a small team accompanying people who serve migrants in Tijuana, helping them uncover and reclaim their dignity as God’s image-bearers. That work has been one of my greatest teachers—showing me who my neighbors truly are and how to love them more deeply. Outside of eating Maria’s incredible cooking with my two kids and a couple of grandkids, you’d have most likely found me riding my motorcycle down a winding, tree-lined road—my favorite kind of therapy. Shaun offers sabbatical guidance, shepherding, and grounded discernment experiences designed to help leaders listen deeply to God.

It took me a long time to realize that my ability to love others well is directly tied to my willingness to let myself be loved first. We love, after all, because God first loved us.

Open Air gives me a space to practice that intentionally—to let God love me in community. From that place, I’m able to offer leaders the same healing, restorative, and transformational practices.
